India vs Australia test series 2017: 6 players which will decide the fate of series
India and Australia will face each other in a mouth-watering
series from 23rd February. Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, India
has been on a roll beating New Zealand, England and Bangladesh in home season
so far. Last time, the Australia was whitewashed by India in 2013 by 0-4. Australia
won their last test match on Indian soil in 2004. From 2007 to 2011, they have
won only one test match in subcontinent. This Indian team are currently the
number 1 ranked team and if they win the first test at Pune, the Men in Blue
will receive 1 Million prize. Here we look at the 6 players which will decide
the fate of India- Australia test series 2017.
1.
Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli has been in excellent form so far scoring 4
double centuries against all opponents he has played this season. Last time
Virat Kohli visited Australia in 2014-2015, he scored 692 runs in 4 matches
including 4 centuries. With Australia being his favourite opponent, Virat Kohli
would be hoping to score huge runs and help team India register another series
win.
2. David Warner
David Warner will play an important role for Australia in
the upcoming test series against India. He has been in excellent touch against
Pakistan at home scoring century in one session. The big challenge for David
Warner is to play Indian spinners well who are in great form. David Warner
needs to give Australia solid starts if they are to give fight to the Indian
team.
3. Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin form with the ball has been superb. In
the recently concluded test match against Bangladesh, he was the fastest to
pick 250 test wickets. It will be interesting contest between Ravichandran
Ashwin and the Australian batsmen who do not have the technique to play top
quality spinners. If the pitches are helpful for the Indian spinners, then
Ravichandran Ashwin will be a handful for the Australian batsmen.
4. Steve
Smith
The Australian captain Steve Smith will play an important
role for Australia. In the recently concluded test series against Pakistan,
Steve Smith performed well and helped Australia to register 3-0 win. The real
test for Steve Smith is to counter the Indian spinners. In the previous test
against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka last year, Steve Smith lost the test series 0-3.
If Australia has to do well, Steve Smith needs to score big and put pressure on
the Indian bowlers.
5. Murali Vijay
Murali Vijay is one of accomplished openers for India these
days. His record against Australia is also impressive. Vijay scored 108 runs in
one off test match against Bangladesh. His ability to leave the ball shows that
he has improved as a batsman. Vijay approach to spinners will be crucial to
India’s chances of winning the test series.
6. Mitchell Starc
Mitchell Starc is one of the best test bowlers at the
present moment. He will play an important role of picking early wickets and
also doing damage with the old ball. In the subcontinent, Mitchell Starc has
done well. If Australia are to do well,
Mitchell Starc needs trouble the Indian batsmen with his speed and
accuracy which will make life tough for the top quality Indian players who are
in great form.
