Indian team for Champions Trophy 2017 announced

The BCCI have announced a 15 men squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy to be held in England from June 1st. Rohit Sharma who played its last One-day international in October last year against New Zealand makes a comeback while Shikhar Dhawan joins him as the second opener. Rahane who has done well in England will be the third backup opener. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have done well in the 10th edition of IPL so far.

The middle order looks very strong with the likes of Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya completes the list. Virat Kohli has been in poor form during IPL 10. With this batting order, it can destroy any bowling attack on its day.

Ravichandran Ashwin will make a comeback into the team after being rested for IPL 2017 while Ravindra Jadeja has been included in the team. Bhvuneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah has a strong pace attack. Mohammed Shami also makes a comeback into the ODI squad after some time.

India are the defending Champions of this tournament that they won in 2013 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. They will play their first match on 4th June against Pakistan. In the case of injuries, the BCCI will be sending 5 backup players with them. This includes Rishabh Pant, Suresh Raina, Shardul Thakur, Dinesh Karthik and Kuldeep Yadav. Here is the 15 man squad for the Champions Trophy 2017.
