Rashid Khan joins the elite list of bowlers with best figures in ODI cricket

It was worth watching spell by Rashid Khan during the first One-day International match against West Indies at ST Lucia. He picked 7/18 which helped Afghanistan register a 63 runs win over West Indies to take a 1-0 lead in the series. This is the fourth best figures by a bowler in ODI cricket joining the elite list of Chaminda Vaas, Glenn McCgarth, Shahid Afridi, Andy Bichel. Rashid Khan did not allow the West Indies batsmen to score runs with ease. Afganistan scored just 212 for 6 but due to his magical spell, they were able to bowl out West Indies for just 149. It is one of the best spells by an associate bowler against a full member nation.

 Rashid Khan was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad side in VIVO IPL 10. He did not disappoint the side taking 17 wickets in 14 matches with an economy of 6.62 runs per over. In the first ODI against West Indies, the leg-spinner was brought into the attack in 23rd over and picked 2 wickets in the first over. After that, there was no stopping as Khan surprised the West Indies batsmen with lots of variety. In his 8.4 overs, he took 7 wickets giving away just 18 runs.  It was a famous win for Afghanistan to defeat higher ranked side. Rashid Khan registered his second best figures in ODI cricket. The first one was against Ireland in Greater Noida this year taking 6/43. He has been the best bowler for Afghanistan for a quite while.
  
Chaminda Vaas the Sri Lankan fast bowler registered the best figures in ODI cricket taking 8 for 19 in 8 overs against Zimbabwe in 2001 at Colombo. Sri Lanka won that match with ease. He was one of greatest fast bowlers that Sri Lanka had produced. Shahid Afridi has the second best figures during an ODI innings with 7 for 12 against West Indies at Guyana in 2013. Pakistan won the match by 126 runs.  

 Glenn McCgarth has the third best figures in ODI cricket taking 7 for 15 against minnows Namibia during the 2003 World Cup held in South Africa and Kenya. Rashid Khan joins the elite list taking 7/18 in yesterday's first ODI match at ST Lucia which the associate nation won with ease. Andy Bichel has been dropped to fifth in terms of best figures in ODI cricket taking 7 for 20 against England during the 2003 World Cup. Here we look at five best bowling figures in ODI cricket.

  The defending Champions India registered a commanding win in the 2 nd semi-finals against South Korea of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 played in Hulunbir, Inner Mongolia on 16 th September. Indian team began the first quarter on a good note with Abhishek's reverse flick shot saved by Korean goalkeeper Kim Jahean.   The defending Champions England qualified for the semi-finals with a thrashing of the USA in a must-win game played at Kensington Oval, Barbados on 23 rd June 2024. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to field first. Reece Topley struck in the first over dismissing Andries Gous with a simple catch to Salt.
