Video: Mitchell Starc produced a brilliant yorker to dismiss Ben Stokes in WC 2019 game
The Australian Cricket Team registered an empathic win over
the hosts England in the 2019 World Cup game played at Lords, London on 25th
June.
Chasing down a competitive total of 286 runs to win, England
looked in big trouble at 26 for 3. Ben Stokes played with caution and took some
time. Jonny Bairstow was also dismissed cheaply to leave England in tatters at
53 for 4.
Stokes showed his class and played with positive intent to
put some pressure on the Aussies bowling line up. The all-rounder from England
kept on ticking the scoreboard reaching his fifty off 75 balls. Marcus Stoinis got
the breakthrough dismissing Buttler. Buttler and Stokes added 71 runs for the 5th
wicket.
Stokes made sure that they keep England on track for a win.
With things looking good for the hosts, Mitchell Starc produced a brilliant
yorker off the final of 37th over to dismiss Stokes innings. Stokes
made 89 off 115 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes. It was one of the best deliveries
which dented England hopes of winning the match. Australia bowled out England
for 221 in 44.4 overs. Starc took 4 for 43 while Behrendoff took 5 for 44 to
give the Aussies a big 64 runs win.
The England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and decided to
field first. Australian opener Warner and Finch provided a solid foundation
adding 123 runs for the opening wicket. Finch led from the front as he scored
100. Despite a flurry of wickets by England, Alex Carey quickfire 38 off 27
balls not out helped Australia post 285 for 7.
With the losses against Sri Lanka and Australia, England was
on the brink of eliminating from the World Cup 2019. Their next matches were
against India and New Zealand to qualify for the Semi-finals.
