England announce 14 Man squad for ODI series against Ireland, big names missing
The World Cup Champion and hosts England will take for the
first time in international cricket after a gap of 4 months as face Ireland in
the 3-match ODI series starting from 30th July at Southampton.
England have rested their key players including Ben Stokes,
Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Chris Woakes and Test captain Joe Root will not
feature in the ODI series against England.
The explosive opener Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow will open
the innings for England. 21 year-promising youngster who had a brilliant 2
domestic season has been included in the squad. Joe Denly dropped from the Test
squad after a disappointing performance during the first Test against West Indies' return
to the ODI squad.
England World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan returns to the
squad. Sam Billings, Tom Banton, Moeen Ali comprise of a strong middle order. Moeen
has been the vice-captain of the ODI squad. James Vince will be looking to grab the
chance.
The left-arm pace bowler Reece Topley will be returning to
the ODI squad after a gap of 4 years. Tom Curran and Saqib Mahmood have been
included. David Willey has been included after missing the 2019 World Cup. Adil
Rashid, Moeen Ali are the two genuine spinners.
Richard Gleeson, Lewis Gregory, and Liam Livingstone are the
3 reserves. The series will be played at Ageas Bowl, Southampton behind closed
doors starting from 30th July. Ireland and England would kickstart
the procedure ICC Men’s Super League tournament for the qualification of the
World Cup 2023 to be played in England.
Ireland could cause an upset with their strong batting-line
up. Thanks to Kevin O Brien brilliant century, Ireland defeated England in the
2011 World Cup match played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
England would be looking to showcase their domination
against the Irish side. It promises to be an exciting series.
