Stuart Broad- the record breaker in Test Cricket
It was a fabulous achievement for Stuart Broad as he became
the 4th fast bowler and 7th overall bowler to grab 500
wickets in Test matches. He achieved this remarkable feat by getting rid of
Kraigg Braithwaite LBW during the ongoing match played at Old Trafford,
Manchester on Tuesday. He picked a 10-wicket haul. For his match-winning
contributions, Broad was named the man of the match.
Broad had a remarkable Test career so far. He was dropped
from the first Test match against West Indies at Southampton that frustrated
him that led to a defeat of the hosts by 4 wickets. He then returned into the
playing XI in the 2nd match at Old Trafford, Manchester.
He picked 6 wickets in the 2nd Test match creating
an impact that was tough to handle for the visitors. It was an amazing comeback
by Broad who was dropped from the 1st Test match and had a point to
prove.
Broad made his Test debut against Sri Lanka at Colombo on 9th
December 2007. He grabbed his maiden wicket by dismissing Chaminda Vaas. The
match ended in a draw. During the 2007 World T20, Broad was smashed for six
sixes at Durban.
He has a played a total of 140 Test matches (258 innings)
and has taken a total of 501 wickets so far. It is a great achievement for especially in
the longest format to be fit and serve the country.
Broad has been a backbone for England bowling line up along
with James Anderson. He has been outstanding in English conditions where the
bowl swings a lot. His achievement is remarkable where he picked a total of 18
five-wicket haul in an innings and thrice ten-wicket in a match.
His career-best figures in an innings came was 8/15 during
the Ashes Test match against Australia at Trent Bridge, Nottingham in 2015.
Broad and Anderson wreaked havoc among the visitor’s batsmen especially in
England conditions.

from this, he became the 7th bowler to achieve this remarkable feat.
Muttiah Muralitharan leads the list with 800 wickets, Shane
Warne with 718 wickets, Anil Kumble 619 wickets, James Anderson 589, Glenn McGrath
563, Courtney Walsh 519.
Stuart Broad was superb with both and bat in the 3rd
Test match. He scored a quickfire 62 off 45 balls helping England post 369. In
the first innings, Broad decimated the West Indies batting line up to pick
figures of 6 for 31. He continued his superb form in the 2nd innings
to finish the match with 10 wickets.
He troubled top-quality batsmen in England conditions. Broad
and Anderson are the top wicket-takers in Test matches for England with a total of 1090
wickets.
