Stats: KL Rahul creates history in IPL
Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul looked in sublime form
during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore played at Dubai
International Stadium, Dubai on 24th September 2020.
Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli won the toss
and decided to field first. KL Rahul put the bad balls away for boundaries
putting the RCB bowlers under pressure. He never looked in discomfort and timed
the ball decently. Mayank Agarwal also looked decent with his stroke play but
was dismissed by a beauty by Yuzvendra Chahal.
After the strategic timeout, Rahul completed his fifty off
36 balls. Nicolas Pooran who was promoted at number 3 struggled for timing.
Shivam Dube struck twice to get rid of Pooran and Maxwell. He was dropped twice
by Virat Kohli at the boundary and took the advantage of the chances. Rahul
plundered RCB bowling to complete his 2nd IPL century off 62 balls. It
was amazing hitting by Kings XI Punjab captain who just upped the ante with
great hitting and remained not out on 132 off 69 balls to post a massive total
of 206 for 3 in 20 overs.
By the virtue of this superb knock, KL Rahul became the highest
individual scorer by an Indian in IPL history. He surpassed Rishabh Pant 128*
that he scored during the 2018 edition. For his captain's knock, Rahul was
awarded the man of the match award.
During this knock, Rahul hit 14 fours and 7 sixes. His knock
helped guide Kings XI Punjab crush Royal Challengers Bangalore by 97 runs to
move up to the top of the points table. KL Rahul's brilliance has moved up him to the
fourth-highest individual score in IPL history.
He has shown tremendous form in the 2 matches he has played
so far. By this knock, KL Rahul is currently the Orange Cap holder and would
