Stats: Sydney Sixers register biggest win in BBL history

 

Thanks to a dominating performance, Sydney Sixers registered their biggest win in BBL history as they defeated Melbourne Renegades played at Blundstone Arena, Hobart on Sunday.

Melbourne Renegades captain Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to field first. It was an ideal start for Renegades as Hatzoglou got rid of Jack Edwards cheaply. At the end of the powerplay overs reduced to 4 overs, Sixers made 27 for 1. James Vince played with intent and put Renegades bowlers under some pressure while Joshua Phillippe took some to settle.

After settling in, Philippe took the attack to Renegades bowlers and completed his fifty off 36 balls. Daniel Hughes gave good support to Philippe making life tough for the opposition. Sydney Sixers took the power surge in the 14th over and scored 32 runs losing the wicket of Hughes. Hughes and Philippe added 78 runs for the 3rd wicket.

Jordan Silk and Joshua Philippe upped the ante putting the Renegades bowlers under immense pressure. Silk played a gem of an innings remaining not out on 45 off 19 balls. Philippe scored a superb 95 off 57 balls and putting on 70 runs for the 4th wicket. Sydney Sixers posted a massive total of 205 for 4 in 50 overs.

Chasing a massive total of 206 runs to win, Aaron Finch played some cracking boundaries before Sandhu dismissed him caught at mid-off by Daniel Christian. Dwarshuis broke the backbone of Renegades batting line up and never looked back. At the end of the first 4 overs, Renegades was reduced to 22 for 3.

Sydney Sixers kept on picking wickets at regular intervals and bowled out Renegades for 60 in 10.4 overs. It was a dominating performance by Sixers side who showed their class. Renegades went past their lowest total in BBL history of 57. Sixers registered the biggest win in BBL history winning it by a massive 145 runs margin.

Sydney Sixers 205 for 4 in 20 overs ( Joshua Phillippe 95, Jordan Silk 45*, Peter Hatzogolu 2/45) beat Melbourne Renegades 60 in 10.4 overs ( Kane Richardson 13, Shaun Marsh 13, Ben Dwarshuis 4/13, Steve O Keefe 3/16) by 145 runs.

For his 95 off 57 balls, Joshua Philippe was named the man of the match award.
