BBL 10: Alex Carey smashes first century of the tournament

After being released by Delhi Capitals in the mini-auction before IPL 2021, Alex Carey made a brilliant century against Brisbane Heats played at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on Thursday.

Adelaide Strikers captain Travis Head won the toss and decided to bat first. Alex Carey came to open the innings with Jake Weatherald and provided a flying start putting pressure on the Brisbane Heats bowlers. At the end of the first four overs, Strikers made 43 for the loss of no wickets. Weatherald and Carey played with intent making life tough for the opposition. Labuschagne struck for Brisbane Heats getting rid of Weatherald with a quickfire 36 off 18 balls. Strikers openers put on 66 runs in 6 overs.

Carey played with intent and kept the scoreboard ticking reaching his fifty off 38 balls. Travis Head and Phil Salt also provided good support to Carey who made the batting look easy. Head made 25 off 19 balls while Salt scored a quickfire 26 off 17 balls. Carey showed his class and completed his century off 60 balls. He was eventually dismissed for 101 off 62 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes that helped Adelaide Strikers post a massive total of 197 for 5.

Adelaide Strikers bowled out Brisbane Heats for 115 in 17.3 overs to register an emphatic 82 runs win. For his superb knock of 101, Alex Carey was named the man of the match award.
