Quarterfinals line-up for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 decided

It was an amazing league stage as 8 teams made it into the quarterfinals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament.

From Group A, Punjab and Karnataka made into the last 8 stage. Punjab finished top of the points winning all their matches. The first two quarterfinals will be played on 26th January while 3rd and 4th quarterfinals would be played on 27th January at the newly laid Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Punjab defeated Uttar Pradesh by 11 runs in their opening match on 10th January at KSCA Cricket Stadium 2, Bangalore, they outplayed Karnataka by 9 wickets, crushed Railways by 117 runs, outplayed Jammu and Kashmir by 10 wickets, and ended the league stage with a comfortable 22 runs win. On the other hand, Karnataka made it into the last 8 stage finishing 2nd in the points winning 4 matches. Their only loss came against Punjab.

Tamil Nadu topped Pool B and qualified for the quarterfinals stage. Dinesh Karthik led side started the tournament with an easy 66 runs over Jharkhand at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, crushed Assam by 10 wickets in their 2nd game, won easily against Odisha by 8 wickets, won a closely fought match against Hyderabad. Tamil Nadu ended the Group stage with an emphatic 8 wickets win over Bengal.

Baroda and Himachal Pradesh qualified from Group C for the quarterfinals. Baroda finished top of the points table winning all their matches while Himachal Pradesh qualified into the last 8 stage finishing 2nd losing 1 match. Himachal Pradesh's only loss came against Baroda.

Rajasthan showed their domination and finished top of Pool D due to a better run-rate than Madhya Pradesh. They started the tournament with a thrilling 3 wicket win over Vidarbha, won by 10 runs against Madhya Pradesh, won by 6 wickets against Services, lost by 37 runs against Goa. They finished with a comfortable 15 runs win over Saurashtra in the final match to qualify for the knockout stage.

Haryana made an emphatic showing by finishing top of Pool E. They started their league stage with 6 wickets win over Andhra Pradesh, won a closely fought match against Puducherry, crushed Mumbai by 8 wickets, won by 5 wickets against Delhi and ended the league stage with a thrilling 4 run win.

In the Plate Group, Bihar enjoyed success by winning all their matches. They started the tournament with an 18 runs win over Arunachal Pradesh, 8 wickets win over Sikkim, 6 wickets win over Meghalaya, 9 wickets win over Manipur and ended the tournament with 6 wickets win over Mizoram.

2.       2nd Quarterfinals- Tamil Nadu vs Himachal Pradesh 26th January)- Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad

3.       3rd Quarterfinals- Haryana versus Baroda (27th January)- Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad

4.       4th Quarterfinals- Rajasthan versus Bihar ( 27th January)- Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Asia Champions Trophy 2024: India Enters Finals With Commanding Win

  The defending Champions India registered a commanding win in the 2 nd semi-finals against South Korea of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 played in Hulunbir, Inner Mongolia on 16 th September. Indian team began the first quarter on a good note with Abhishek's reverse flick shot saved by Korean goalkeeper Kim Jahean. After the initial domination, a superb pass by Arijit with a goal by Uttam Singh in the 13 th minute to give India a 1-0 lead. Soon after, Korea’s two penalty corners before the third penalty corner as the shot hits Sumit’s body.   At the end of the first quarter, India led 1-0.   The defending Champions England qualified for the semi-finals with a thrashing of the USA in a must-win game played at Kensington Oval, Barbados on 23 rd June 2024. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to field first. Reece Topley struck in the first over dismissing Andries Gous with a simple catch to Salt. Nitish Kumar and Steve Taylor steadied the ship for the USA. Sam Curran dismissed Steve Taylor caught by Moeen Ali. Taylor and Nitish Kumar added 34 runs for the 2 nd wicket.
