Stats: England explosive batsman creates history in BBL
Regarded as one of the explosive openers in England cricket,
Alex Hales has been in sensational form for Sydney Thunder during BBL 10.
In a rain-curtailed match against Adelaide Strikers played
at Adelaide Oval, Hales remained not out on 63 off 39 balls including 4 fours
and 4 sixes along with Callum Ferguson to help Sydney Thunder register an
emphatic 9 wickets win with 11 balls to spare.
Hales broke the record of most sixes hit in a single season.
He has taken the bowlers to the cleaners and hit 30 sixes so far. Sydney
Thunder qualified for the finals with 31 points including 8 wins and 6 losses.
It also included 7 Bash Points.
The explosive England opener has been in sensational form so
far this season. Hales has played 14 matches so far with 535 runs including 1
century and 2 half-centuries. He registered his best BBL score against Sydney
Sixers of 110 from 51 balls. Hales has shown tremendous hitting abilities so
far with 53 boundaries and 30 sixes.
In this year’s BBL season so far, Hales has been dismissed
for 0 only twice. His performances in the knockout rounds will be important for
Sydney Thunder. Hales broke the record of Marcus Stoinis who smashed 28 sixes
during the 2019/20 season for Melbourne Stars.
Chris Lynn achieved the feat of hitting most sixes twice. He
hit 27 sixes for Brisbane Heats in the 2015/16 season and then 26 sixes during the
2016/17 season.
Alex Hales has been a superb performer for England in the
T20I format. He played his last T20I against West Indies at St Kitts on 10th
March 2019. He made a quickfire 20 off 13 balls and helped England chase down a
paltry total with 8 wickets remaining and 57 balls to spare.
He has played so far 60 matches ( 60 innings) and scored
1644 runs with 1 century and 8 half-centuries. By scoring a sensational 116*
against Sri Lanka during the 2014 World T20 game, Hales became the first
England batsman to score a century in the T20I format.
With the five T20I games coming up on Indian soil, Hales
would be hoping to selected in England T20I squad and also in the World T20 Cup
to be played in India this year.
