registered their first ODI win in the Coca Cola Tri-series played at Hyderabad
on 17th May 1998.
Kenyan captain Aasif Karim won the toss and decided to bat
first. It was a disciplined bowling effort by the Bangladeshi bowlers to
restrict a strong Kenyan batting line-up comprising of Otieno, Steve Tikolo, Maurice
Odumbe, Hitesh Modi, Thomas Odoyo. Ravi Shah was the top scorer for Kenya with
52 while Hitesh Modi made 42. For Bangladesh, Mohammad Rafique picked 3 wickets

Chasing 237 runs to win, Mohammad Rafique came to open the
innings along with Athar Ali Khan. Bangladeshi openers set a strong foundation
putting on 137 runs in 26 overs. Rafique scored a brilliant 77 off 87 balls
while Athar scored 47. After a strong opening partnership, Bangladesh lost 3
quick wickets.
Bangladeshi captain Akram Khan steadied the ship with a
quickfire 39 and was eventually dismissed. Animul Islam and Naimur Rahman
ensured that Bangladesh registered a comfortable win by six wickets with 12
balls to spare. For his all-around efforts, Rafique was awarded the man of the
match.
Bangladesh played their first One-day international match on
31st March 1986 against Pakistan at Moratuwa. It was a disappointing
performance by the Bangladeshi tigers as they lost the match by 7 wickets.

with 131 wins, 244 losses, and 7 no-result at a win percentage of 34.93. After the
2015 World Cup, Bangladesh improved as an ODI side winning against top sides
like India, Pakistan, England, South Africa in their home den. They proved their worth
by reaching their first-ever quarterfinals in the 2015 quarterfinals played in
Australia and New Zealand.
They have shown glimpses of winning against top-quality
sides against England in 50 over World Cups and kept on improving as a team.
Bangladesh performed brilliantly as they reached 2018
Asia Cup finals and gave a tough fight to the mighty Indians. They have some top-quality
players in the form of Shakib AL Hasan, Mortaza, Rahim, Tamim Iqbal.
With the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka slated to
start from 23rd May, Bangladesh would be looking to continue its
