West Indies announces provisional squads for home T20I series

 

The West Indies Cricket Board have announced their 18-man provisional squad for the home T20I series against South Africa, Australia, and Pakistan.

It looks like a strong unit with top-quality players in the squad. Kieron Pollard will be led the squad while Pooran named as the wicketkeeper as well as vice-captain. Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetymer, Lendl Simmons, Nicolas Pooran comprises batsmen.

Andre Russell makes a comeback into the T20I squad after a gap. Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Jason Holder, Fabien Allen comprise of all-rounder slot. The fast-bowling department comprises Fidel Edwards, Sheldon Cottrell, Jason Holder, Obed McCoy, Oshane Thomas.

There is only one specialist spinner in the form of Hayden Walsh Junior and Fabien Allen. It promises to be an exciting home series as West Indies will feature 5 T20I matches against South Africa, Australia and Pakistan keeping in mind two World Cups.

West Indies will start their home T20I series against South Africa from 26th June and will finish on 3rd July. All the matches would be played in Grenada.  After this series, they will face Australia from 10th July and will complete on 17th July to be played at St Lucia. They will then take on South Africa in another five matches to be played in Grenada.

They will finish their home series with another 5 matches against Pakistan to be played from 27th July and complete 3rd August. The first two matches will be played at Kennington Oval, Barbados, and then the last 3 matches will be played at Guyana National Stadium, Guyana.

These 15 T20I matches would help the West Indies team to get momentum and make sure that they get good practice against good quality T20I teams. Shimron Hetymer also makes a comeback into the T20I squad. West Indies would be looking to continue their winning form defeating Sri Lanka by 2-1.
