Indian Team plays historic Test match on England soil
The Indian women’s Cricket Team will take on England in
one-off historic Test match on England soil after a gap of 7 years to be played
at Bristol from 16th June onwards.
A total of 140 Test matches have been played so far. The
first women’s Test match was played between England and Australia in December
1934 contested in a three-day.
The match between Indian women and England women will be a four-day
contest hoping to see a cracking contest. Under the captaincy of Mithali Raj, the
Indian women defeated strong England by six wickets in the one-off Test match
played at Wormsley. It was a historic moment for Indian cricket as they
registered their first win on England soil.
With the experience of Mithali Raj, the Indian women’s team
would be looking to replicate their success of 2014. India played their first
Test match in women’s cricket in 1976. Since then, they have played a total of
36 matches, with only 5 wins, 6 losses, and 25 drawn matches.
Under the captaincy of Mithali Raj, the Indian Team would be
looking to showcase their skills against the hosts. The Indian women’s team has
some top-quality players in the form of Smriti Mandhana, Punam Raut, and other
batters. Apart from this, Jhulan Goswami will lead the attack and hoping to
perform brilliantly by picking wickets.
Since August 2006, the Indian women’s team have won 3
successive Test matches. This Indian team would start with a win against a
strong English side under the new coach of Ramesh Powar. With the mix of youth
