South Africa versus India 3rd Test 4th Day: South Africa seal historic series win with a comfortable win

 The South African batters showed great character as they registered a famous win over the World number 1 ranked Test side India on the 4th day of the 3rd Test match played at Newlands, Cape Town on Friday.

Starting on the overnight score of 111 for 2, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami produced some excellent deliveries to Keegan Petersen and Van der Dussen. Both South African batters kept patience hitting bad balls away for boundaries. Petersen looked composed and reached half-century off 65 deliveries. Van der Dussen showed intent as the Indian bowlers kept missing past the edge. Petersen was given a reprieve as Pujara dropped a simple chance at slips. Umesh Yadav did not keep the pressure on Dussen and Petersen with loose balls.

Shardul Thakur provided the much-needed breakthrough for India getting rid of Keegan Petersen taking the inside edge onto the stumps. Petersen and Dussen added 54 runs for the 3rd wicket. Thakur and Shami kept on probing good lines taking the past edge. South Africa went into lunch break at 171 for 3.

After the lunch break, Indian captain Virat Kohli bought in R Ashwin and Umesh Yadav into the attack. Bavuma and Dussen looked at ease making life tough for Indian bowlers. Both South African batters kept the scoreboard ticking. Bavuma hit the winning shot with a boundary to help the hosts win it by 7 wickets clinching a historic comeback series win for South Africa. Bavuma and Dussen added unbeaten 57 runs for the 4th wicket.

It was a brilliant performance by the South African team who showed great character after losing the first Test match badly. The South African pacers Rabada, Jansen, Oliver created trouble in the next two matches.

After an impressive bowling performance by South Africa dismissing India for 223 runs in the first innings. Despite conceding a 13 runs lead, Rabada, Jansen, Ngidi kept the hosts comeback with superb contributions.

  South Africa 210 in 76.3 overs ( Keegan Petersen 72, Bavuma 28, Bumrah 5/42) and 212 for 3 in 63.3 overs ( Petersen 82, Dussen 41*, Bavuma 32*, Thakur 1/22, Shami 1/41) beat  India 223 in 77.3 overs ( Kohli 79, Pujara 43, Rabada 4/73, Jansen 3/55) 198 in 67.3 overs ( Pant 100*, Jansen 4/36, Ngidi 3/21) lead South Africa 210 in 76.3 overs ( Keegan Petersen 72, Bavuma 28, Bumrah 5/42) and 101 for 2 in 29.4 overs( Petersen 48*, Elgar 30, Shami 1/22, Bumrah 1/29) by 7 wickets.

With this win, India slipped down to number 5th in the latest ICC World Test Championship cycle. For his 2 half-centuries, Keegan Petersen was awarded man of the match and series also.
