Bangladesh created history on South African soil
The Bangladeshi Cricket Team registered an emphatic win over South Africa in the 3rd and deciding One-day international match played at SuperSport Park, Centurion on Wednesday.
South African captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided
to bat first. Janneman Malan and de Kock started off on a brisk note hitting
boundaries keeping the Bangladesh bowlers on the backfoot. Mehidy Hasan Miraz
provided the breakthrough in getting rid of de Kock caught by Mahmudullah. The
South African openers put on 46 runs in quick time. South Africa made 57 for 1
at the end of the first 10 overs.
After the field restrictions, Taskin Ahmed broke the backbone
of the South African batting line-up grabbing Janneman Malan and Kyle Verryne.
Shakib AL Hasan dismissed South African captain Bavuma to leave South Africa in
big trouble at 71 for 4. Taskin Ahmed showed his class with the bowl making life
tough for the hosts. Dwaine Pretorius and Keshav Maharaj provided some
resistance but Bangladeshi bowlers kept on plugging to skittle out South Africa
for 154 in 37 overs. Taskin Ahmed rattled the hosts grabbing 5 for 35.
In reply, the veteran Tamim Iqbal provided a flying start
putting pressure on the South African bowlers. It was a brilliant batting
display by Tamim and Das not allowing them to settle. At the end of the first
10 overs, Bangladesh openers scored 58 for 0.
After the field restrictions, Iqbal continued his stroke
play and led from the front reaching his fifty off 52 balls. Das took the charge
also keeping the momentum going for Bangladesh. Maharaj got the breakthrough
dismissing Das caught by Bavuma. The Bangladeshi openers added 127 runs making
life easier for the visitors. Shakib AL Hasan joined in with Tamim and
completed the formalities winning by 9 wickets.
By the virtue of this win, Bangladesh recorded their first-ever ODI series win on South African soil. It was an amazing performance by the
Bangla Tigers.
Bangladesh registered their first win in ODIs on South
African soil. They defeated the hosts by 38 runs played on 18th
March. Thanks to brilliant knocks by Liton Das, Shakib AL Hasan, Tamim Iqbal,
Yasir Ali, and quickfire cameos by Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, and Mehidy Hasan
Miraz, Bangladesh posted 314 for 7.
In reply, the Bangladeshi bowlers never allowed the South
African team to run away with it and skittled out them for 276. Taskin Ahmed took
3 wickets, Mehidy Hasan Miraz 4, Shoriful Islam 2 wickets.
The second ODI was a disappointing performance by the
Bangladesh team as they scored just 194 after opting to bat first. South Africa
chased down this target with ease leveling the series at 1-1.
Bangladesh consolidated its top spot during the ODI Super League with 125 points and would be looking to increase the position in the upcoming matches.

Das 48, Keshav Maharaj 1/37) beat South Africa 154 in 37 overs ( Janneman Malan
39, Maharaj 28, Taskin Ahmed 5/35) by 9 wickets.
For his brilliant spell of 5 for 35 in 9 overs, Taskin Ahmed
was named the man of the match. He was named the man of the series for 8
wickets in 3 matches.
