All you need to know about Sri Lanka versus Australia Test series

After an exciting T20I and ODI series, the focus shifts to two Test matches between Sri Lanka and Australia starting from tomorrow at Galle International Stadium, Galle.

The Lankan team will look to continue their domination over Australia at home. The last time Australia visited the Lankan shore, they were whitewashed during the 2016 series. The 2 match Test series starting from tomorrow onwards is a part of the 2021/23 ICC Test Championship cycle.

Under the captaincy of Pat Cummins, the Australian team would be looking to impress on spinning tracks that Sri Lanka would produce. Australia won 3 match Test series on Pakistani soil with a 1-0-win defeating Pakistan at Lahore.

Australia is currently at the top of the ICC Championship cycle while Sri Lanka would look to come up after a disappointing Test series against India away from home. They registered a 1-0 win over Bangladesh away from home. The Sri Lankan team has done well at home and would give Australia a run for their money against top-ranked side in the ICC Test Championship cycle.

Sri Lanka has good quality batting line-up with Pathum Nissanka returning to the top of batting after missing the Test series against Bangladesh. Jeffery Vandersay has been included in the squad and could be a part of playing the XI side with the conditions likely to help spinners.

On the other hand, Australia will be hoping to maintain the same XI they did during the Test series against Pakistan. They will be going with Mitchell Swepson along with Nathan Lyon as two specialist spinners while Pat Cummins and Mitchell comprise two pace options.

It promises to be an exciting series as Australia would look to consolidate their position in the table while Lanka would look to prove their worth against a top-quality side like Australia.

Here are likely XI for both teams for 1st Test match
