England announce their playing XI for first Test against South Africa
Under the captaincy of Ben Stokes, England announced their XI for the first Test match against visiting South Africa to be played at the iconic Lords Cricket Ground, Lords starting from 3.30 IST onwards today.
England has been on a roll with 4 successive wins chasing
down big targets against New Zealand and then chased down a record 378 runs
against India to level the 5-match series at 2-2. It has been a remarkable
transformation by the England Test team. They would be looking to continue their
attacking style of play in the first match of the series against visiting South

batters on each side. Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow have been in sensational form against
New Zealand and India. The hosts would be looking to create an impact with another
set of brilliant performances with both bat and ball gaining momentum for the rest
of the 2 Test matches.

from COVID. It looks like a settled unit and hoping to see England show their skills
against top-quality South African pace bowling. On other hand, South Africa
would be looking to stop the baseball approach under the captaincy of Dean
Elgar.
South Africa is currently at number 1 in the latest ICC Test
Championship points table. They would be looking to consolidate their
performances against a supremely confident England side.
