Afghanistan and West Indies announce squads for World T20 2022
Afghanistan also named their squad for the prestigious World T20 to be played in Australia from next month. Their performances in the recently concluded Asia Cup was brilliant as they reached the Super 4 stage defeating Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
They went down fighting against Sri Lanka and Pakistan in
the first two matches of the Super 4 stage. After a thrilling 1-wicket loss to
Pakistan, Afghanistan looked tired and lost badly against India in their last
Super 4 stage match.
Afghanistan qualified directly to the Super 12 stage due to
higher rankings. They have been clubbed with Australia, New Zealand, England, and 2 more qualifying teams from 1st round.
During the 2021 edition of World T20 played in UAE,
Afghanistan finished 4th with 2 wins against Scotland and Namibia.
They lost to Pakistan, India, and New Zealand. The Afghan team would be looking
to continue their impressive run in the prestigious tournament.
Afghanistan has been on a rise with top-quality cricketers
like Rashid Khan who can change the course of the match with his all-around abilities.
They have good quality young players making a name for themselves against good
quality bowling in the 2022 Asia Cup.

Afghanistan announce squad for the World T20 2022
West Indies also announced their World Cup squad for the prestigious
tournament. They would be featuring in the qualifying round along with Ireland, Zimbabwe,
and Scotland in Group B.
The two-time World Champions in the shortest format will be
without their star players including Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Chris Gayle,
and Dwayne Bravo. Evin Lewis and Johnson Charles make a return to the T20I squad.
West Indies did not perform well in last year’s edition
winning only 1 match against Bangladesh. They lost to South Africa, England, Australia,
and Sri Lanka.
