England versus Pakistan 5th T20I: Bowlers help Pakistan to a thrilling win

 Thanks to a superb bowling effort, Pakistan edged past England in the 5th T20I match played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Wednesday.

England captain Moeen Ali won the toss and decided to field first. Mark Wood featured in the playing XI troubled Pakistan openers Babar and Mohammad Rizwan with bouncers. Wood eventually got rid of Babar Azam with a sharp bouncer with a simple catch to Duckett. Rizwan looked impressive with intent. Willey dismissed Shan Masood as Mark Wood did not make a mistake to drop the catch. At the end of the first six overs, Pakistan made 43 for 2.

Mark Wood troubled the Pakistan batters with pace dismissing Haider Ali with a return catch. Iftikhar Ahmed and Rizwan steadied the ship for hosts before Willey showed his class dismissing Iftikhar. Rizwan and Iftikhar added 30 runs for the 4th wicket. Wood produced a superb yorker to dismiss Asif Ali to leave Pakistan in big trouble.

Mohammad Nawaz and Shahbad Khan were involved in a run out leaving Pakistan struggling big time. Rizwan impressed one more time as he smashed fifty off 37 balls. He was eventually dismissed by Sam Curran caught by Rashid at fine leg. Woakes ended the inning by getting rid of Mohammad Wasim to bowl out Pakistan for 145 in 19 overs.

Chasing 146 runs to win, it was not an ideal start for the England team as Alex Hales was dismissed in the very first over by Shahbad Khan. Haris Rauf got rid of Phil Salt providing an easy catch to Khushdil Shah. Ben Duckett continued his impressive run before being dismissed by Mohammad Wasim to leave England in trouble. At the end of the first six overs, England ended at 42 for 3.

Mohammad Haris came as a replacement for Mohammad Rizwan. Shahbad Khan produced lovely delivery to dismiss Harry Brooks to leave England in some trouble. Iftikhar Ahmed showed his class by getting the wicket of well-set Malan.

Moeen Ali and Sam Curran struggled with the required run rate climbing. Aamer Jamal making his T20I debut grabbed the important wicket of Sam Curran caught by Mohammad Wasim. Moeen Ali showed intent putting pressure on Mohammad Wasim and Haris Rauf. Rauf struck dismissing Chris Woakes caught at long-on. Woakes and Moeen added 46 runs for the 7th wicket.

Moeen Ali completed fifty off 35 balls and took England closer to a win. Aamer Jamal showed his class with lovely yorkers to help Pakistan register 6 runs victory.

Mohammad Rizwan was named the man of the match for his 63. Pakistan takes a 3-2 lead in the 7 matches T20I series. The sixth T20I will be played on 30th September. 

Pakistan 145 in 19 overs ( Mohammad Rizwan 63, Mark Wood 3/20, Willey 2/23) beat England 139 for 7 in 20 overs ( Moeen Ali 51*, Dawid Malan 36, Rauf 2/41, Amer Jamal 1/16) by 6 runs.
