India versus Australia 2nd T20I: India level series in a rain curtailed match
The Indian Cricket Team returned strongly to beat Australia in a rain-curtailed 2nd T20I match played at VCA Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur on Friday.
After the match was delayed due to wet outfield, it was
reduced to 8 overs a side for the crowd. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss
and decided to field first. The powerplay was reduced to 2 overs per side. Virat
Kohli produced a superb throw picked up by Axar Patel to run out Cameron Green.
Axar Patel produced the magic dismissing the dangerous Glenn
Maxwell cleaned bowled. At the end of field restrictions, Australia made 19 for
2. Aaron Finch looked in decent touch putting pressure on Indian bowlers. Axar
Patel struck again dismissing another hard-hitting batter Tim David to leave
Australia in trouble.
Jasprit Bumrah produced a searing yorker to dismiss
Australian captain Aaron Finch. Matthew Wade continued his impressive form
hitting lovely shots of Harshal Patel and Bumrah. It was brilliant hitting by
Wade in the last over before Harshal Patel ran out Smith. Wade and Smith added
44 runs for the 5th wicket from 3 overs. At the end of 8 overs,
Australia posted 90 for 5.
Chasing 91 runs to win, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul provided a
flying start hitting Josh Hazlewood for 20 runs in the first over. It was a
flying start for the Indian openers as they raced away to 30 in field
restrictions.
Adam Zampa was bought into the attack and got rid of KL
Rahul with a good delivery. Rahul and Rohit added 39 runs in quick time. Rohit
Sharma looked in sublime touch keeping the scoreboard ticking not allowing the
Australian bowlers to settle. Zampa struck twice getting wickets of Virat and Surya
Kumar off successive deliveries.
Rohit Sharma took on Sean Abbott to make the equation easy
for India. Pat Cummins dismissed Hardik Pandya caught by Finch. Dinesh Karthik showed
his class smashing six and boundary to help the Indian team win the match by 6
wickets with 4 balls to spare.
India 92 for 4 in 7.2 overs (8) ( Rohit Sharma 46*, Zampa
3/16) beat 90 for 5 in 8 overs ( Wade 43*, Axar Patel 2/13) by 6 wickets
For his unbeaten 46 off 20 balls, Rohit Sharma was named the
man of the match award. With this win, India leveled the series at 1-1. The
third and deciding T20I match will be played at Hyderabad on Sunday.
