Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship 2023: India progress to semi-finals with comeback win.

 The Indian Badminton Team produced a stunning comeback win over Hong Kong in the quarterfinals of the Mixed Asia Team Championship 2023 played in Dubai on 17 th February 2023. Ishan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto lost to Lee Chun and NG Tsz Yau in the mixed doubles match. It was a very closely fought match right from the word go with both pairs taking alternate points. The match ebbed and flowed right till the end as both teams got game points but were not able to convert. Hong Kong pair held onto their nerves to win the first game 26-24. The second game was also closely fought but Lee and NG showed class winning it 21-17 giving Hong Kong a 1-0 lead. Lakshya Sen went down fighting to Na Ka Long Anus in three games. Badminton Mixed Asia Championship 2023: India stun Malaysia to finish top.

 The Indian badminton stunned Malaysia in the final Group game to finish top of the Badminton Mixed Asia Team Championship played in Dubai on 16 February. After blanking both Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates 5-0 in the first two games, the Indian team faced the toughest challenge so far. The first singles match saw HS Prannoy upset Lee Ji Zia in three grueling games. It was a tough battle for both players before the World number 4 Lee won the first game 21-18. HS Prannoy made a strong comeback with lovely shots keeping pressure on Lee winning it by 21-13 to take the game into the decider. Both players fought for each point in the third and final game. The match ebbed and flowed before HS Prannoy held onto his nerve to win it 25-23 giving India a 1-0 lead. PV Sindhu defeated Wong Ling Ching in the women’s singles match. ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023: Indian women’s team register second win.

 The Indian Women’s Cricket Team registered a comfortable 6-wicket win in the second Group match played at Newlands, Cape Town on 15 February 2023. West Indies captain Hayley Mathews won the toss and decided to bat first. It was not an ideal start as Mathews went cheaply with a simple catch to Richa Ghosh off Pooja Vastkar. Campbell and experienced Taylor put the bad deliveries away for boundaries as Indian fielding looked ordinary. At the end of the first six overs, the West Indies women made 27 losing just 1 wicket. Campbell and Taylor kept showing intent in hitting boundaries. Deepti Sharma got two wickets in the same over dismissing both Campbell with lovely catch by Mandhana and then Taylor with a review for LBW.  The first match of the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup match saw Sri Lankan women stun South Africa in a thrilling encounter played at Newlands, Cape Town on 10 February. South African captain Sunne Luus won the toss and decided to field first. It was a cautious start by Lankan openers Harshita Samawickrama along with Sri Lankan captain Chamari Atthapthu. The left-handed Harshita tried to pressure South African bowlers with attacking shots but could not do it. At the end of the first six overs, the Sri Lankan women made 28 for 0. De Klerk got the breakthrough dismissing Harshita with a simple catch to Brits. Vishmi Gunaratne struggled with her timing while Chamari looked to attack the South African bowlers. After the short break, the Sri Lankan captain showed intent with boundaries at regular intervals. Gunaratne also joined the party with boundaries against Shabnim Ismail.
