Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Ravindra Jadeja Match Winning Performance Against Delhi

 

 Phase 2 of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 saw many top Indian players like Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube &Pant taking part in the prestigious tournament after 1-3 loss to Australia in BGT and a 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand at home.

Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Rahane &Rohit Sharma failed to perform according to expectations. Ravindra Jadeja showed his mettle for Saurashtra with a match-winning performance with both bat and ball against Delhi.

Saurashtra registered a thumping 10-wicket win over Delhi played at Niranjan Shah Stadium, Rajkot. Ravindra Jadeja played a key role with the cherry in both innings. He contributed valuable runs in the 1st innings.

Jadeja started the rot for Delhi dismissing Sanat Sangwan. He then dismissed the well-set Yash Dhull to break a 51-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. It was a superb bowling effort by the southpaw. When Delhi was looking good, Jadeja dismissed Delhi captain Ayush Badoni. Saurashtra bundled out Delhi for a mere total of 188. The left-arm spinner dismissed Shivam Sharma, Harsh Tyagi &Navdeep Saini to finish with figures of 5 for 66 in 17.4 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja showed his attacking skills with the bat. He came to the crease with Saurashtra in trouble at 73 for 3. Jadeja looked impressive taking on the Delhi bowlers smashing a quickfire 38 off 36 deliveries with 2 fours and 3 sixes. His performance ensured that Saurashtra posted a decent total. Harvik Desai finished as the top scorer with 93 &Arpit Vasavada also scored 62. Saurashtra made 271 with a lead of 83 runs.

Jadeja stole the show for Saurashtra in the second innings. He started the slide for Delhi getting the opening wicket by dismissing Sanat Sangwan. Ravindra Jadeja got the wicket of Arpit Rana. It was a great bowling performance by Jadeja dismissing Jonty Sidhu, Pant, Mayank Gusain & Sumit Mathur. He finished the innings by getting rid of Delhi captain Ayush Badoni. It was a superb bowling effort by Jadeja finishing with stunning figures of 7 for 38 in 12.2 overs.

Saurashtra chased down the target of 12 runs without losing any wickets.  For his all-round performance, Ravindra Jadeja was named the player of the match. With this win, Saurashtra moved to third in the Elite Group D. They will face Assam in their last league game against Assam on the 30th January onwards.
