Thailand Masters 2025: Good Performances From Indian Shuttlers
The Indian
shuttlers had a good outing with 3 of them entering the second round of the Super
300 played in Bangkok, Thailand on 29th January 2025.
Kidambi
Srikanth making a comeback to the court after forfeiting the first round of the
India Open, he showed his class by defeating D Dubovenko of Israel. It was a dominating
performance by former world number 1, Indian player Srikanth. He looked
impressive winning by 21-13. Despite a closely fought second game, Srikanth showed
his class to win it with a scoreline of 21-18. He will face J Gunawan of Hong
Kong, China.
J Subramanian
stunned higher-ranked player Chem Jun Wei of Malaysia in three thrilling games.
The first game saw Chem showing his domination right from the word go winning
it easily by 21-15. Subramanian played with aggression in the second game
making a strong comeback to win it with a 21-15 scoreline.
The third
game was a closely fought affair right from the word go. Both players took
alternate points before the young Indian held onto his nerves to win it by 21-19
to move into the second round. He will face CA Wardoyo of Indonesia.
In other
men’s singles results, M Manjunath lost to A Sholeh of Malaysia in two straight
games. Both players went into the main draw from the qualifiers. The Indian
lost with a scoreline of 14-21, 13-21.
T Mannepalli
suffered a straight-game loss to Wardoyo of Indonesia. It was a disappointing
outing for the Indian losing with a scoreline of 11-21, 15-21.
Ayush
Shetty also went down in straight games to qualifiers Kok J H of Malaysia.
Ayush lost the match by 15-21, 17-21.
R Sanjeevi could
not go past the first round losing to A Farhan of Indonesia in two straight
games. The Indian put up a decent fight with a scoreboard of 15-21, 18-21.
R Ramraj
stunned Chinese player Wu L Yu in two straight games. It was an impressive
performance by Ramraj as it was a see- saw battle right from the word go. Ramraj
held onto his nerves winning the first game 21-19. The second game started with both players getting
points. Ramraj showed courage to get points winning it by 21-16 by moving into
the second round. She will face Tung C J of Chinese Taipei.
T Hemanth played
her heart out before losing to Kisona S of Malaysia in three games. The first
game saw the Indian winning with a scoreline of 21-15. Malaysian showed her
domination to win the next two games by 21-11, 21-13.
