Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan Finishes Last In Group A
Host nation Pakistan finished last in Group A after their match against Bangladesh was abandoned without a ball being delivered played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on 27th February.
Hosting an ICC tournament in Pakistan after a gap of 29
years, Pakistan's lead-up to the Champions Trophy began off to a shaky start as
they suffered twin losses against New Zealand in the tri-nation series played
in Lahore and Karachi including South Africa.

Pakistan faced New Zealand in the first match of the
tournament played at National Stadium, Karachi. The hosts suffered a major blow
as Fakhar Zaman went off the field due to an injury during the first over of
the match.
It was a disappointing bowling performance by the Pakistan team
as they allowed New Zealand to post 320 for 5. They reduced the visitors to 73 for
3 before a superb partnership between Latham and Will Young. Both Young and
Latham scored centuries while Glenn Phillips scored a quickfire knock.
In reply, Babar Azam and Rizwan struggled in the first 10
overs. The hosts were bundled out for 260 as they suffered a 60-run loss.
Pakistan took on arch-rivals India in a must-win situation at
Dubai International Stadium, Dubai on the 23rd. Imam UL Haq came as a replacement
for Fakhar Zaman. It was a disappointing batting performance by Pakistan facing
lots of dot balls were not able to hit big shots. They were bundled out for 240 in
50 overs. Saud Shakeel was the top scorer with 62.
Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled a beauty to dismiss Rohit Sharma giving
Pakistan a much-needed breakthrough. They struggled after that as Virat Kohli,
Shubman Gill & Shreyas Iyer scored runs easily. Pakistan suffered a six-wicket
loss with 45 balls to spare.
It was a disappointing outing for the Pakistan Cricket Team
as they struggled with their batting, bowling, fielding & team selection.
