China Masters 2025: PV Sindhu & Chirag Shetty/Satwik Enter Quarterfinals
The only
two remaining Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu and Chirag/Satwik enter the
quarterfinals of the Super 750 China Masters played at Shenzhen Arena, China on
18th September 2025.
PV Sindhu returned
to her old form with an impressive win over sixth seeded Pornpawee Chocuwong in
two straight games. The first game started with both players fighting for each
point before Sindhu showed her class keeping the Thai player under pressure to
win the first game easily at 21-15.
The second
game also began with players fighting for each point. Sindhu looked impressive
with her smashes and took a slender 11-10 lead at the break. After the break,
Sindhu dominated the player to win with similar scoreline of 21-15 to move into
the quarterfinals of China Masters. She will now face top seeded An Se Young of
South Korea which would be a tough challenge for the Indian.
The men’s
doubles pairing of Satwik/Chirag Shetty cruised past their Chinese Taipei
opponent Chiu C-h and Wang C-I in two straight games. It was a dominating
performance by Satwik/Chirag putting their opponents under immense pressure
right from the word go. Satwik/Chirag made life tough with a commanding 11-5
lead at the break. After the break, it was one-way traffic as Indian pairing
won the first game easily at 21-13.
The second
game also saw some brilliant badminton by Satwik/Chirag not allowing any
chances for their opponents. At the mid-game break, Indian pairing dominated
with a 11-5 lead. After the interval, they kept piling pressure on Chinese
Taipei pair winning the second game easily at 21-12 to move into the
quarterfinals. They will face Ren XY and Xie HN of China who defeated Kim
Astrup and Rasmussen of Denmark.
Satwik/Chirag
would be looking to continue their superb form and keep the Indian flag flying high
in the quarterfinals that will take place tomorrow.
