Hero Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 Stage: India Drew With South Korea In Thrilling Contest
The Indian
Men’s Hockey team draw their opening match of the Super 4 stage with a 2-2 draw
over defending champions South Korea played at Rajgir Sports Complex, Rajgir on
3rd September 2025.
The hosts India
began the first quarter with a penalty corner but did not yield in any goal. India
put pressure on South Korea putting enough pressure before earning another PC.
Harmanpreet Singh shot was well saved by Korean defence twice. Sukhjeet Singh steals
from midfield before Hardik Singh solo run produced magical goal in the 8th
minute to give India 1-0 lead.
South Korea
was awarded a penalty stroke after review as Jugraj Singh pushed. Yang converted
penalty corner into the goal in the 12th minute to level the scores
at 1-1. Hyeong Kim scored a brilliant goal via penalty corner in the 14th
minute to make it 2-1 in favour of South Korea. At the end of the first quarter,
South Korea led 2-1.
The Indian
team attacked right from the word go in the 2nd quarter. Harmanpreet
Singh was awarded a green card meaning two-minute suspension. Jarmanpreet Singh
hit a powerful hit but superb save by Korean keeper denied India the equalizer.
At the end of the first half, South Korea led 2-1.
The third
quarter began off well for India with Abhishek as South Korean goalkeeper
denied him with tougher angle to shoot from. South Korea had good possession in
the middle. Sukhjeet Singh could convert a great chance of levelling scores.
Indian team had few chances to make it 2-2 but not able to convert it.
Harmanpreet
Singh penalty corner was well blocked by Jinkang Kim which resulted in the end
of the third quarter with still South Korea leading 2-1.
Suraj
Kakera comes as goalkeeper in the 4th quarter. India earned another
penalty corner in the game with Jugraj Singh smacking into Korea’s first rusher.
Jahean Kim produced a superb save with solo run by Mandeep Singh.
Sukhjeet gave
an assist and pass to Mandeep Singh who tapped the shot in the 52nd
minute to level the scores at 2-2. India earned another penalty corner but Amit
Rohidas shot went wide off goalpost.
Despite India
having more circle penetrations, the Indian team could not convert chances as
they wasted penalty corners. Both teams shared 1 point each.
The Indian
team will face off Malaysia in their next match on 4th September. Harmanpreet
Singh led side would look convert more chances as they look to showcase their
domination.
