Hong Kong Open 2025: Satwik/Chirag, Lakshya Sen Enter Finals
A great
moment for Indian badminton as Satwik/Chirag Shetty and Lakshya Sen entered
into the finals of the Super 500 Hong Kong Open 2025 played on 13th
September.
The men’s
doubles pairing of Satwik/Chirag Shetty defeated qualifiers Chan Cheng Kuan and
Ling Bing Wei in two straight games. It was a closely fought start for both pairs
taking alternate points. At the mid-game break, Chan and Ling had a 11-9 lead.
After the interval, Satwik/Chirag played attacking badminton not allowing any
chances for their opponents to win the first game at 21-17.
It was
another closely start to the second game with both pairs taking alternate
points. At the mid-game break, Chang and Ling had a decent lead. After the
interval, the Indian pair upped their game providing no chances for their
opponents to win second game easily at 21-15 to move into their first finals of
2025. They will play Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang of China.
Lakshya Sen
beat Chou to reach first finals of 2025.
Lakshya Sen
showed great fighting spirit to defeat 3rd seeded Chou Tien Chen in
two thrilling games. The first game saw both players fighting for each point.
Lakshya defended brilliantly to take a 11-7 lead at the break. After the
interval, Chou fought back strongly with 5 successive points to level scores at
12-12.
Lakshya Sen
saved four match points to level the scores at 20-20. Sen held onto his nerves
with long rallies taking the first game at 23-21.
The second
game also was a closely fought contest right from the word go. Both players hit
some lovely smashes and drop shots. This time around, Chou took a slender 11-10
lead at the break. After the interval, Indian fought toe to toe with 35-year-old
Chou.
Lakshya Sen
saved 3 match points to level the scores at 20-20. Sen held onto his nerves to
win the match by 22-20 and enter first finals of year.
He will
face Li Shifeng of China in the finals tomorrow. The Indian fans would be
hoping for a cracking contest and win title for their country.
