Women’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025: India Starts The Tournament With Resounding Win Over Thailand
The Indian
women’s hockey began the Asia Cup tournament with a resounding 11-0 win over
Thailand in Group B match played at Hangzhou on 5th September 2025.
Indian team
put pressure on the Thailand side right from the word go. Mumtaz Khan scored
the field goal to give India 1-0 lead in the 7th minute. Sangita
Kumari doubled India’s lead with second field goal during 10th
minute. Indian team kept consistent pressure on Thailand side but could not
convert chances. At the end of the first quarter, Indian team led 2-0.
It was an ideal
start for the Indian team as Navneet Kaur scored the 3rd goal immediately
in the 16th minute. Lalremsaimi scored superb field goal in the 18th
minute to give India commanding 4-0 lead. They earned few penalty corners but
not able convert it into goals. Right at the stroke of first half, Udita
converted penalty corner to make it 5-0.
The third
quarter saw the Indian team showing their class but not able to convert chances
into goals. Thailand put some efforts with circle penetrations as Bichu Devi
looked solid. Dung Dung Beauty scored from a rebound via penalty corner in the
45th minute to make 6-0. At the end of the third quarter, India had
a commanding 6-0 lead.
Mumtaz Khan
scored her 2nd goal of the match with a penalty corner in the 49th
minute to put India in a commanding 7-0 lead. Udita scored her 2nd
goal from PC in the 52nd minute making merry with 8-0 scoreline.
Dung Dung
Beauty scored a lovely field goal in the 54th minute to continue the
score making at 9-0. Sharmila Devi opened her account with a goal via penalty
corner in the 57th minute. Rutuja Dadaso completed the domination
scoring another goal during last minute as Indian team ended match by 11-0.

Beauty got green card while two Thailand players got green card. It was a dominating
performance by the Indian team.
They will
now face Japan in their second match on 6th September. It promises
to be a mouth-watering clash.
