Australian Open Badminton 2025: Lakshya Sen Stun Chou Tien Chen To Enter Finals

 

Star Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen stunned Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei to enter the finals of the Super 500 Australian Open 2025 played at Sydney on 22nd November.

Lakshya Sen struggled initially as there were long rallies which Chou dominated which put the Indian under immense pressure. At the mid-game interval, Chou maintained 11-6 lead. After the break, Chou continued to play attacking badminton not allowing Sen to chance. Both players featured in a long 44 shots rally which helped Chen a match point. Despite Sen efforts, Chou won the first game at 21-17.

The second game began well for both players as they took alternate points. It was a closely fought affair till 9-9. Sen showed class with 11-9 lead at the mid-game break. Chen kept calm to level the scores at 12-12 after the break. The match ebbed and flowed as Sen struggled committing unforced errors. Both players fought for each point before the Indian won the second game at 24-22 to force match into the decider.

Lakshya Sen began the third game on a positive note racing towards 6-1 lead. Sen kept calm putting pressure on Chou with lovely shots keeping momentum going. At the mid-game break, Sen had a commanding 11-6 lead.

After the break, Sen continued his dominating against Chou keeping him under pressure with smashes and drop shots. Chou tried his best saving 4 match points before Sen won the match as his opponent hit onto the net to win decider game by 21-16 to move into his first finals of 2025.

Lakshya Sen has been in sensational form of late and would be looking to continue his superb touch. He will now face Yushi Tanaka of Japan in the finals tomorrow. The men’s doubles pairing of Satwik/Chirag lost in quarterfinals yesterday.
