FIH Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup 2025: Indian Team Starts With A Dominating Win
The Indian
men’s junior hockey team started the World Cup journey with a dominating win
over Chile played at Major Radhakrishnan Stadium, Chennai on 28th
November 2025.
Indian team
began the first quarter with high intent putting consistent pressure on Chile
defense but enable to convert into goals. India eventually earned a penalty
corner which was well saved by Chile goalkeeper Richard Phillipe. At the end of
the first quarter, the scores remained 0-0.
It was a
perfect start for India in the second quarter as Rosan Kujur scored a field
goal inside circle in 16th minute to give them 1-0 lead. A brilliant
pass by midline and Kujur tapped during 21st minute allowing India
double the lead. Dilraj Singh scored lovely goal from penalty corner in 25th
minute to make it 3-0 in favor of India. It was a dominating performance by
hosts as India ended first half at 3-0. India dominated first half with 18
circle penetration as compared to 2 by Chile.
Dilraj
Singh scored his 2nd goal of the match slicing through Chile defense
in 33rd minute to make it 4-0 for India. Ajeet Yadav produced another
lovely field goal very next minute to continue India domination with 5-0
scoreline. They kept putting pressure on Chile defense and made life tough for
the visitors. At the end of the third quarter, Indian team led 5-0.
The fourth
and final quarter saw India continue their domination with Ekka Anmol scoring
from a penalty corner in 48th minute to make it 6-0. Indian team
kept looking to score goals and increase their goal difference. In the last
minute, captain Rohit scored from a penalty stroke as India ended the match
with a commanding 7-0 win. With this win, they moved to the top of Group B.
Switzerland
defeated Oman by 4-0 in the first match of Group B. The Indian team will look
to continue their domination as they will face Oman tomorrow.
Other match
results
The
defending Champions Germany thrashed South Africa by 4-0 in Group A fixture.
Ireland edged past Canada with 4-3 thrilling win.
In Group C
fixtures, Argentina began their journey with 4-1 win over Japan. New Zealand
scored five goals quickly before China scored 3 goals, it was late as Kiwis won
5-3.
