Syed Modi International Tournament: Indian Shuttlers Qualify For The Semi-Finals

The Indian shuttlers including men’s singles, women’s singles, mixed doubles and women’s doubles made into the semi-finals of the Super 300 Syed Modi International tournament played in Lucknow on 28th November 2025.

Srikanth Kidambi won after Pranshu Rajawat retired after the interval in second game. Kidambi looked in great touch putting Rajawat under immense pressure right from word go to win the first game at 21-14. The second game saw Srikanth continued his brilliant run putting Rajawat under pressure at 11-4 before Rajawat retired hurt due to an injury.

Mithun Manjunath defeated M Singh in two straight games. It was a closely fought affair in the first game before Manjunath won by 21-18. The second game saw Manjunath dominated Singh to win with scoreline of 21-13 to move into the semi-finals. Srikanth Kidambi and Mithun Manjunath will face each other.

The women’s singles section number 1 seeded Unnati Hooda register a thrilling three set game against Santosh Ramraj. Hooda proved her worth putting Ramraj under pressure to win the first game by 21-15. Ramraj made a strong comeback in the second game with a dominating 21-13 scoreline. Unnati then showed her class keeping Ramraj under pressure to win by 21-16 to move into the SF. She will face Neslishan Arin of Turkey.

Tanvi Sharma continued her brilliant run defeating Lo So Happy of Hong Kong in two straight games. The first game was a one-sided affair as Tanvi won comfortably by 21-13. The second game saw Tanvi Sharma struggling looking down and out trailing by 13-18 before staging a stunning comeback to win the second set by 21-19 to move into SF. 

The number 1 seeded Tressa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand defeated B Erectin and N Inci of Turkey in two straight games. It was a superb performance by Jolly and Gayatri with scoreline of 21-15, 21-16 to move into the SF. They will face Ong Xin Yee and Cameron Ting of Malaysia.

The mixed doubles pairing of Tressa Jolly and Amsakarunan defeated Ramadiansyah and Shimzu of Australia in two straight games. It was a good performance by the Indian pairing winning by 21-18, 21-14 to move into the SF. They will face Dejan Ferdinansyah and Bernadine Wardana of Indonesia.

6.      Tressa Jolly/Amsakarunan defeated Ramadiansyah/Shimzu (Mixed Doubles)- 21-18, 21-14.

 


 

 




Tanvi Sharma enter into the SF of Syed Modi International Tournament, Srikanth, Unnati Hooda, Tressa Jolly also made it in last 4 stage.

The best all-rounder in limited-overs format from Bangladesh, Shakib AL Hasan picked the best figures in Caribbean Premier League history played at Bridgetown, Barbados on 3 rd August 2013. In this match, Trinidad and Tobago Red Steels captain Dwayne Bravo won the toss and decided to bat first. Shakib AL Hasan was bought into the attack in the 6 th over and immediately struck by getting rid of experienced Ross Taylor. He did not allow Red Steels batsmen to score runs easily.   The Indian shuttlers had a disappointing outing as only one of them made it into the quarterfinals of the Super 1000 Malaysia Open 2025 played at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur on 9 th January. HS Prannoy, women’s doubles pair of Tressa Jolly suffered narrow losses while Bansod, mixed doubles pair of Crasto/Kapila, and other pair lost in a one-sided affair. Tressa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand suffered a heartbreaking loss to Jia Ya Fan and Zhang of China in three thrilling games. The Indian pair struggled in the initial phases of the first game trailing by 3-6 before taking 7 points in succession to put the pressure back on the Chinese pair. At the mid-game interval, the Indians had an 11-7 lead.
