BWF World Tour Finals 2025: Satwik/Chirag Shetty Loses In Semi-Finals

 

The Indian pairing of Satwiksairaj RankiReddy and Chirag Shetty goes down to silver medalists Liang Weikeng and Chang of China in three games during the semi-finals of the BWF World Tour finals played at Hangzhou, China on 20th December 2025.

Liang and Chang began the first game on a positive note putting Indian pairing under immense pressure. It was a great start for Chinese pairing taking 6-3 lead before Satwik/Chirag made strong comeback to take 5 successive points. Satwik/Chirag put on excellent display with 11-6 at the mid-game break. After the interval, it was one-way traffic as Indian pairing won first game comfortably at 21-10.

Liang and Wang began the second game on a better note with good defending taking a decent lead of 7-3. Satwik/Chirag made strong comeback taking 4 points in succession to level the scores at 7-7. It was closely fought affair as Liang and Wang took a slender 11-9 lead. After the break, the match ebbed and flowed with both pairs taking alternate points. Despite Indian pairing efforts, Chinese pairing won the second game comfortably with 21-17 scoreline.

The Chinese pairing dominated right from the word go putting Indians with smashes and keeping them under pressure. It was one-way traffic as Liang and Wang had a commanding 11-2 lead. After the break, there was no chance for Satwik/Chirag as Chinese pair won the decider by 21-13 to move into the finals.

Satwik/Chirag had a dream run in the BWF World Tour finals. They finished top of Group B defeating Liang and Wang, Fajar Alfian& Shohoibul Fikri, Aaron Chia and Sooh. It was a superb performance by Indian pairing as they proved their worth against world best.
