Indonesia Masters 2026 Day 2: Lakshya Sen & PV Sindhu Enter QF
It was a
good outing as top Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen entered into the
quarterfinals of the Super 500 Indonesia Masters played at Jakarta, Indonesia
on 22nd January 2026.
Lakshya Sen
cruised past his Hong Kong opponent Jason Gunwan in two straight games. It was
a dominating performance by Sen right from word go not allowing any chances for
his opponent. At the mid-game break, the Indian had a commanding 11-2 lead.
After the interval it was one way traffic as Sen won the first game with ease
by 21-10.
The second
game was a dominating performance by Sen looking in complete control making
life tough for Jason. At the break, Indian had a commanding lead. After the
break, the Indian continued his domination to win by 21-11 to move
quarterfinals. He will face another qualifier Pan Teerarastukul of Thailand.
PV Sindhu
showed her class getting rid of her Danish opponent Line Kjaersdeft in two
straight games. The first game was a closely fought affair right from the word
go. It ebbed and flowed right down the wire before Sindhu held onto her nerves
to win it by 21-19.
Sindhu
began the second game on a positive note putting pressure on the Danish
opponent with smashes and drop shots. Line made a strong comeback to take
points in succession, but the two-time medalists Sindhu won it comfortably by
21-18 moving into the quarterfinals. She will face a stern challenge against
Chen Yu Fei of China.
The men’s
doubles pairing of Amsakarunan and MR Arjun went down fighting to Man WC and Tee
KW of Malaysia in three games. It was a closely fought affair in the first game
before the experienced pairing of Man and Tee put on dominating display to win
by 21-17. Amsakarunan and MR Arjun produced a dominating display in the second
game not allowing any chances to their opponents with scoreline of 21-9.
The third
and deciding game began on an even keel with both pairs fighting for each
point. Man and Tee looked sharp keeping the Indian pairing under pressure to
win the deciding game by 21-16.
It was
curtains for Kidambi Srikanth as he suffered loss to Chou Tien Chen in two
straight games with a scoreline of 11-21, 10-21.
Anmol Kharb
went down fighting to Nozomi Okuhara in three games. The first game saw Kharb
playing attacking badminton not allowing any chances for her opponent to win it
easily by 21-16. Okuhara fought back strongly in the second game keeping Kharb
under pressure winning it easily by 21-14.
The third
game began with both players fighting for each point till 8-8. Okuhara produced
a dominating display afterwards to win the decider by 21-11.
