All England Badminton Championship 2026: Lakshya Sen Edge Past Victor Lai In A Thriller To Reach Finals

Lakshya Sen and Victor Lai were involved in a marathon 97-minute semi-finals of the prestigious All England Badminton Championship played at Birmingham on 7th March 2026.

It was a great start to the game opening with 52 shot rally with the point going to Lakshya. Both players fought for each point before Sen had a slender 11-10 lead at the break. After the break, there were long rallies tested both players stamina. Victor Lai took lead for first time at 14-13 before Sen upped his game to win the first game by 21-16.

The second game also saw both players fighting for each point with long rallies. Lakshya took off his shoe with blister. After a short break, 36 shot rally took place which was followed by another 59-shot rally. Victor Lai produced the magic with a 11-7 lead at the break. After the interval, Sen took 3 points in succession to reduce the margin with 1 point at 10-11.

Another sensational rally took place of 67 shots which resulted in the point to Victor. Sen produced piece of magic with 44 shots, but this time went for Sen. With all to play for in the second game, another grueling 48 shots took place which saw Sen commit error. Victor Lai showed fighting spirit as he won the second game by 21-18 to force the match into the decider.

The third and deciding game saw both players fighting for each point as both players were struggling with fitness. With scoreboard reading 4-4, 86 shots rally took place which resulted in favor of Sen. Sen continued to play aggressive badminton putting Lai under immense pressure. At the mid-game break, star Indian shuttler took a 11-7 lead.

After the break, Lakshya Sen was awarded a yellow card for delaying as he had issues with fitness. Sen struggled as he had bleeding on his foot but continued to produce the magic to win decider by 21-15 to move into the grand finale.

It was an epic game of badminton with both players fighting for each point. Sen would look to create as he will play against Lin C-y of Chinese Taipei tomorrow.

 The Indian shuttlers will take part in the Super 750 Malaysia Open starting on 10 th January 2023.   The Australian Cricket Team registered a consolation win in the 3 rd and final T20I match played at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton on Tuesday. By virtue of this victory, Australia retained their number 1 ranked T20I side in the world.   Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to field first. It could have been an ideal start for the visitors as Starc almost got Tom Banton out.
