Thailand Open 2026: Satwik/Chirag Beat Goh/Izzudin In A Thrilling Encounter To Reach Finals

The top seeded Indian pairing of Satwik/Chirag Shetty reached their first finals of 2026 with a thrilling win over Goh/Izzudin in the semi-finals of the Super 500 Thailand Open played at Bangkok on 15th May.

It was a closely fought affair in the initial stages of the first game with both pairs fighting for each point till 7-7. Goh/Izzudin upped their attacking style of play putting Satwik/Chirag taking a 11-8 lead at the break. After the interval, Malaysian pair showed their class with smashes and keeping Indian pairing under immense pressure. The top seeded showed glimpses of fightback before Goh/Izzudin held onto their nerves to win first game by 21-19.

The second game saw both pairs fighting for each point with smashes and flat shots. It was an amazing badminton display by both pairs. At the mid-game break, Satwik/Chirag took a 11-9 lead. After the interval, Goh/Izzudin fought back strongly with lovely shots keeping Indian pairing under pressure. Satwik/Chirag had a 20-18 lead before Malaysian pair took 2 points in succession to level the scores at 20-20. A superb performance by Satwik/Chirag helped closely fought affair by 22-20 and force the match into the decider.

Both pairs had a good start in the third and deciding game taking alternate points. Satwik/Chirag upped their game putting Goh/Izzudin under immense pressure with smashes. At the mid-game break, Indian pairing had a commanding 11-5 lead. After the interval, Goh/Izzudin showed glimpses of their shots, but it was not enough as Satwik/Chirag won with scoreline of 21-15 to move into the finals of Thailand Open 2026.

It was an impressive performance by Satwik/Chirag who looked sharp with smashes keeping the momentum going and showed fighting spirit after losing the first game.

They will face L Carnando and D Marthin of Indonesia in the finals. Carnando and Marthin defeated JT He and XY Ren in two straight games of 21-15, 21-18.

There are lot sports played in India like cricket, Football,Hockey,Tennis, Boxing.These days cricket is getting a lot of recongnization and a getting a lot of money if they win major tournamnets like world cup. The others sports like tennis,hockey is not been watched and been noticed by the respective assocation of the sports and they do not know what they have won and they are been treated like they have no value for them. This is most dissapointng thing in our country that the national game 10years before hockey is being ingnored by the govt.
