US Open Badminton 2026: Kidambi Srikanth Enter Finals, Other Two Crash Out

Srikanth was the only shuttler who made it into the finals while Raunak Chahuan
and Devika Sihag crashed out in semi-finals of Super 300 US Open 2026 played at
California on 27th June.
Kidambi
Srikanth registered a thrilling three game win over 4th seeded
Okimoto of Japan. Okimoto made an impressive start to the first game before
Srikanth produced a dominating display putting the Japanese under some
pressure. Both players fought for each point before Srikanth took a 11-8 lead
at the break. After the interval, Srikanth maintained the momentum taking the
first game away before Okimoto showed great fighting spirit with points in
succession to level the scores at 19-19. The experienced Indian saved one game
point before winning it with 22-20 scoreline.
The second
game began with both players fighting for each point putting pressure on each other.
It was a closely fought affair as Okimoto took a 11-9 lead at the break. After
the interval, the Japanese looked in impressive as Srikanth committed few
unforced errors. Okimoto held onto his nerves to win the 2nd game
comfortably by 21-15.
It was an
impressive start for Srikanth in the 3rd game keeping Okimoto under
some pressure. The Japanese fought back strongly with lovely shots to level the
scores at 9-9. At the mid-game break, the Indian took a 11-9 lead. After the
interval, Srikanth looked in complete control before Okimoto showed fighting
spirit to level scores at 19-19. The Indian held onto his nerves to win by
21-19 in decider and move into the finals. He will face Lu Y Su of Chinese Taipei.
Raunak Chahuan
dream run ended in the semi-finals with a straight game loss to Lu Y Su of
Chinese Taipei. Raunak made a solid start to the first game with attacking
shots keeping Su under pressure before the Chinese Taipei player showed courage
with attacking shots. At the mid-game break, Su took a 11-8 lead. After the
interval, Su looked in complete control before Raunak made strong comeback to
take 5 points in succession to level scores at 15-15. Su held onto his nerves
winning the first game by 21-17.
The second
game was a closely fought affair as both players showed class with smashes and
drop shots. Both players kept hitting attacking shots. At the break, Su led
11-9. After the interval, Raunak made a solid comeback, but it was not enough
as Su won the second game by 21-19.
Devika
Sihag also went down fighting to 2nd seeded Line Christophen of
Denmark in three games. Sihag made an impressive start to the first game
putting pressure on the Danish before Line showed courage with attacking shots.
At the mid-game break, Sihag led 11-9. After the interval, Sihag maintained
pressure on Danish winning the first game comfortably by 21-15.
The second
game saw Line making a strong comeback with attacking shots keeping Devika
under pressure. After the initial stages, Sihag showed fighting spirit. At the
mid-game break, Line took a 11-9 lead. After the interval, it was one-way
traffic as Line won it comfortably by 21-11.
Line
started the deciding game on a positive note putting Sihag under immense
pressure. After being 1-6 down, Sihag showed skills and fighting spirit keeping
Line under pressure level the score at 10-10. At the mid-game break, Line took
a slender 11-10 lead. Despite superb fight by Sihag, Line held her nerves to
win deciding game by 21-15.
