Asian Games 2026: Indian Women’s Hockey Team Beat China In A Thrilling Encounter To Clinch LA Olympics Ticket

The Indian women’s hockey created history with a thrilling 1-0 win in the finals of Asian Games 2026 against the favorites China played on 2nd October.

Chinese team got off to a perfect start but the shot was well saved by Bichu Devi. After that they took possession with Indian defense looking solid. Baljeet Kaur was given a green card meaning two-minute suspension. Sakshi gave a pass to Lalremsaimi reverse flick shot inside left the Chinese goalkeeper no chance in the 10th minute giving India 1-0 lead. The Indian kept pressure with penalty corner as Navneet Kaur shot past right side of the goal. At the end of first quarter, India led 1-0.

China got off to a great start in the initial stages of 2nd quarter with 2 successive penalty corners. The second one was well defended by Navneet Kaur clearing the shot. China was awarded a penalty stroke with Savita Punia making a block between sticks. Punia produced superb save denying Zhang Ying to deny China the equalizer. Shilpi Dabas made another brilliant goal line save because of poor defense. Dan Wen was awarded a green card meaning a two minute suspension. At the end of the first half, India still led 1-0. 

  The third quarter saw the Chinese making a strong start with Fan Yunxia with brilliant run, but the Indian defense was solid denying them the equalizer. China got two back to back penalty corners. China was a penalty stroke as the shot hit body of Navneet Kaur, but Indian team decided for reviewing it and turned to penalty corner. China dominated the possession as they were not able to convert into goals. At the end of the third quarter, the scores remained 1-0. 

China kept pressing in the fourth quarter with aggressive moves, but Indian defense looked solid not allowing any chances. Liu Ping was taken off by Chinese team but nothing as Indian defense made some solid moves and denied them the goal. Indian team celebrated with full zeal as they won the Asian Games gold with 1-0 scoreline.

With this great win, Indian women’s hockey team won the Asian Games gold after a gap of 44 years. Also, they created history by booking the ticket for Los Angles Olympics in 2028.

 It was an amazing batting display of batting by Jamaica Tallawahs smashing the St Lucia Kings bowlers all over the park in their opening match of CPL 2021 played at Warner Park, St Kitts on Friday.
