Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024: All You Need To Know

The Indian Women’s Hockey Team will take part in the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy tournament starting from 11th November in Rajgir, Bihar. It promises to be an exciting tournament with teams like Japan, China, Malaysia &Korea featuring and looking to prove worth. Indian team is currently the defending champions and would look to defend the title with lovely performances.

Each team will play other teams once with the top four teams qualifying for the semi-finals. Indian team won the title in Ranchi last year. They finished top of the points table in the league stage before winning 2-0 against South Korea in the semi-finals to reach the finals. The finals was a one-sided affair as the Indian team registered a 4-0 win over Japan to clinch the title. It promises to be an exciting tournament with the likes of China, Malaysia, South Korea &Japan giving a tough fight to the hosts and hoping to win the title back again with lovely performances.

The semi-finals of the tournament will be played on 19th November and finals will take place on 20th November 2024. Indian team would look to create an attacking style of play and hope for an exciting performance in front of the home crowd.

Asia Champions Trophy 2024: India Enters Finals With Commanding Win

  The defending Champions India registered a commanding win in the 2 nd semi-finals against South Korea of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 played in Hulunbir, Inner Mongolia on 16 th September. Indian team began the first quarter on a good note with Abhishek's reverse flick shot saved by Korean goalkeeper Kim Jahean. After the initial domination, a superb pass by Arijit with a goal by Uttam Singh in the 13 th minute to give India a 1-0 lead. Soon after, Korea’s two penalty corners before the third penalty corner as the shot hits Sumit’s body.   At the end of the first quarter, India led 1-0.   The defending Champions England qualified for the semi-finals with a thrashing of the USA in a must-win game played at Kensington Oval, Barbados on 23 rd June 2024. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to field first. Reece Topley struck in the first over dismissing Andries Gous with a simple catch to Salt. Nitish Kumar and Steve Taylor steadied the ship for the USA. Sam Curran dismissed Steve Taylor caught by Moeen Ali. Taylor and Nitish Kumar added 34 runs for the 2 nd wicket.
