In the recently concluded series against the Pakistan the batting has been a failure with only Dhoni performing with the bat scoring 203 runs the second highest scorer of the series behind the Pakistani opener Nasir Jamshed.The first ODI saw the team reducded to 29 for 5 in 10 overs but after dhoni played a captian knock of 113 to give india a respectable score of 227 for 6.  Despite that The Indians lost the match by 6 wickets.In the 2nd the batting let down again leaving them reeling at 95 for 5 chasing 250 and finally lost the match by 85 runs and in the last match of series in Delhi the team was all out for 167 in 43.4 overs but their fielding and bowling won their match by 10 runs.

In the upcoming series starting from the 11th january in Rajkot the batting needs to improve a lot with openers needed to provide a solid start so that the players like Yuvraj, Raina, Dhoni can end the innings with a bang. The bowling has been a fine with Bhuvenswar Kumar , Ishant Sharma, Shami Ahmed can bowl with pace and control the runs. India can be the number side if they beat the England team 3-0 or more and hope that Newzeland can beat the South Africans.

  The defending Champions India registered a commanding win in the 2 nd semi-finals against South Korea of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 played in Hulunbir, Inner Mongolia on 16 th September.   The defending Champions England qualified for the semi-finals with a thrashing of the USA in a must-win game played at Kensington Oval, Barbados on 23 rd June 2024.
