Lasith Malinga- the man with golden arm
Lasith Malinga who has created havoc among all the international teams expect for India who plays him better than other team takes out wicket for Sri Lanka and his franchise team Mumbai Indian. The ability to take crucial wickets for national team or franchise team , the way he bowls the yorkers, slow ones and toe crushers which the batsman are not able to pick, variety, the slinging action which is quite different from others stands out and makes him the toughest bowler to face at the death of an ODI match and T 20. Taking 3 hatricks, one time four ball four wickets and two time hat ricks is a big achievement for this young and talented fast bowler. Six years ago he achieved a feat which nobody could do it is to take four wickets in four balls in world cup to nearly win the match
When the national team or franchise team seems to be in trouble the captians looks for this bowler to pick up quick wickets and put the pressure on the batsman, not allow them to score freely, bowl wicket to wicket and stop the flow of runs which would lead to wicket. This man realizes that expectations are great from this bowler and delivers. The main problem comes when he plays the Indians with Kohli, Gambhir, Dhoni , Suresh Raina knows how to tackle and for the past 1 or 2 years he has forgot to Indians. In 2012 Malinga was plundered for 96 in 7 overs by the Indians in tough chase of 320 off 40 overs.
I think his role of winning the IPL 6 and Champions league in 2011 was great as he picked crucial wickets to give them advantage. Being in 4 finals and losing all of them is a big pitty for this class bowler. When the teams are chasing low scores he becomes lethal and can turn the match around in space of few balls which looks unlikely.
I think the 50 over and 20 over is best suited for him. These two format allows to give him the best. He can teach the young sri lankan bowlers how to bowl ,tackle pressure. His fitness sometimes has been an issue which creates a huge gap in the team. In the 2013 the Mumbai Indians will be without this bowler which would be a huge.
In the 2014 T-20 World Cup Malinga bowled some great yorkers to help the Sri Lankans to restrict India to a modest total. He is currently injured.
