T-20- a bane or boon.

When the first T-20 match was played between Pakistan and England nobody thought this format would become so famous. All over the world there are leagues taking place all over the world. The IPL, CPL, BPL, is the format where the international players and domestic can play together, know their strengths, weakness. The T-20 which has 4 tournaments so far has been impressive with some excellent performances. The likes of Gayle, yuvraj, Raina and others have proved that with time the T-20 format is getting popularity and the audiences come to watch the match with lot interest than test match or ODI's.

The T-20 has saw the batting improved a lot, the batsman playing innovative strokes, the scores of 170-180 are becoming common and the first 6 overs are yielding runs when the batsman when he set in. Some of best strokeplayers like gayle who hit 175 runs in the IPL, Aaron finch scoring 156 the highest score by any player. In T-20 the batsman has score quickly and sensibly to allow the team to score atleast 150-170 and put the pressure on the bowlers. The Indian players are not getting used to this format but the players like Dravid, tendulkar, ganguly has all made money and name by scoring runs in the longer format. I think the youngsters like Jadjea, Raina must focus on his technique so that they can play well for the Indian team. His performance for the Chennai Super Kings has been great.

For the bowlers the important thing is that to put the bowl at the right spot and not allow the batsman score freely, the yorkers, slower one is the main threat for the bowlers. A bowler has to bowl 4 overs as compared to 10 in ODI.

The number of T-20 matches are increasing which is not great. When the top 2 teams play there should be atleast 4 test matches which will allow fair contest. The former players are worried about the future of test cricket and with T-20 the longer format future is danger. I think the ICC must see to that top teams play atleast 7 to 8 test matches per year.

In T-20 the chance of weaker teams of defeating the top teams like India, pakistan are greater than the longer format. These weaker  teams like Bangaldesh, Zimbawawe  in test matches cannot  play consistently for 5 days. The Ashes is the best exmaple where the battle between the two teams remains on knife edge and produces some of best cricket. The ICC must arrange matches for these weak team especailly test matches so that they can improve their skiils.

These days the scores depend upon how the batsman approach the batting and leave the bowlers blank how to bowl. T-20 serves an opportunity for the audience to see some wonderful batting. I think the world cups provide an big opportunity for the weaker teams to surprise the top ranked teams.

The biggest negative of T-20 is that the patience of the batsman technique is not tested and bowler is carted all over the ground and the boundaries which are small the batsman can hit with ease.
