Prestigous domestic tournament to kick off
On the 27th of October it will mark the start of fresh Ranji trophy which is the most prestigious domestic tournament in India. The matches will be played in different parts of the country. The most anticpated match would be the Haryana and Mumbai played at Lahli where the attention would be the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar who may be playing his last Ranji Trophy. Mumbai are the favorites to win the tournament because they have all the bases covered. I think the Delhi has an equal chance to qualify because of the batting they posses and the bowling which may trouble.
Group A comprises of Winners Mumbai, Punjab Semi finalist, Gujrat, Delhi, Karnatka quarter finalist, Haryana, Orissa, Jharkhand, Vidarbha promoted from group C. Group B will comprise of Saurashtra (runners-up), Services (semi-finalists, promoted from Group C), Uttar Pradesh (quarter-finalists), Railways, Baroda (quarter-finalists), Madhya Pradesh, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Group C will comprise Hyderabad (relegated), Maharashtra (relegated), Andhra, Assam, Kerala, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Tripura. I think this will be closely contested tournament. It provides a chance for new and young talented players to perform and impress the selectors.
The eyes will be on Sanju Samson who will play for Kerala, Baba Aprajith playing for Tamil Nadu, S Badrinath, Robin Uthappa for Karnataka and other teams must focus on their weakness. Mumbai team has a good bowling attack with Zaheer Khan, Dhawal kulkarni, Abdulla,. Rajasthan a two time champion has also a chance because of their balance. The bowling looks decent with Deepak Chahar, Pankaj Singh.
In last year Ranji trophy Mohit Sharma was impressive playing for Haryana and his capability to swing and seam is good quality, MP Ishwar Pandey,the comeback man pace bowler Varun Aaron, Parveez Rasool. The pitches in these matches must not be a batting paradise but a pitch which would suit the bowlers and batsman. Siddarth kaul, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishwar Pandey were the top wicket takers. I have impressed by the way Shabaz Nadeem has bowled.Jiwanjot Singh from Punjab, CM gautuam and Nayar from Mumbai were top run getter and lets see that if they can repeat the performances.
