Asia Cup 2014: Who will be winners

The Asia Cup which is in its 12th edition has seen the Indians winning it 5 times, Pakistan 2 times, Sri Lanka 4 times. The times have changed, the situation has changed and the last time winners Pakistan will be under pressure to defend it because the Indians, Sri Lankans, Bangladesh at their home ground, Afghanistan will be playing for the first time. The Indians under MS Dhoni has performed good winning asia cup 1 once but last time Indians did not even reach the finals. Despite winning two matches the Indian were knocked out of the tournament.

This year asia cup will see the matches to creep upto 11 in 2 venues. The pitches will be good for batting but the spinners will play a major role. India have a good chance of winning this tournament because of the batting depth which can chase down any scores. The main concern would be the bowling at the death but the key weapon would be the spinners which can control the runs and take wickets.

The Pakistans biggest weakness is the brittle batting line up but the bowling line up can make up for the weakness. The likes of junaid Khan, Saeed Ajmal, Mohmmad Irfan are the major threat for the other opponents.

Sri Lanka bowling line looks potent with the likes of Malinga, Perera, and other good players which can change the course of match. I think they have good chance also.

Bangladesh who came close of winning the tournament last time can be the underdog and can beat any big team on their day. The bowling will depend on their to spinners like Abdur Razzak, Al hasan. The batting looks good with the likes Tamim Iqbal, Nasir hossian, and top players.

Afghanstan which will play the asia cup for the first time which has qualified for the 2015 world cup. It will be a big moment for this team and if they beat one of the top sides it will be great for the tournament.

The tournament provides a chance for players to show that their talent. So lets see who can lift the trophy this time.  It will be a big motivation for these teams to perform as the prize money has been announced : US $260,000
