Australia wrecks havoc to create whitewash
When the first test series of this ashes started nobody gave the Australian team to win the urn back but come the 5th january 2014 the team lead by Micheal clarke and his boys completed a whitewash 5-0 which would hit the England team badly .When the England team came to Australia in 2006 the England had suffered the same thing in 2006-07 ashes. The credit goes to the selectors, management and the captain for such a remarkable turnaround. Captain Cook deserve all the criticism from the English media for such a bad performance. This team has now become number 3 team in the ICC test team rankings.
The series began in Brisbane where it all started in November. Every time Australian team was in trouble Haddin was the man to pull out the team from hole and put the team in strong position.At Brisbane Australia were 132 for 6 but after that Australia put a competitive 292 and then after it was the Aussies who dominated the game there after. In the second test match Australia scored 570 for 9 declared and then after crippled the English batting with some brilliant fast bowling by Mitchell Johnson. The Australian team was again by Haddin and Clarke.
In the third test match Australia was in trouble again but was rescued by Smith. He scored a brilliant century and gave Australia a competitive total. In the first innings England was demolished by Johnson, Siddle and Harris, Lyon. This match the Aussies won 150 runs.
The fourth test match was different from point of view that this time England took the lead and threw the match away and lost the match by 8 wickets. England was given batting by Clarke and they 255, Australia gave a lead 0f 51.In the 2nd innings England were dismissed for 179.
The final test match was chance for England to leave the ashes with pride but the Australian had other ideas and gave a trashing. Again Australia was in trouble but Smith and Haddin played well to give the Aussies 326 and then after blew the English batting away for 155. The Australian won the match by 281 and completed the demolition job 5-0.
The biggest positive for England has been Ben Stokes and Broad with Ball. The biggest negative was that Trott leaving the series after 1 match and their leading spinner Gramme Swann retiring.
