Preview:Sri Lanka vs Pakistan 3rd test match
In the two test matches so far Pakistan dominated 2 and half days but from the 3rd day of 1st test onwards Sri Lanka have dominated the Pakistan. The Sri Lankans have out bowled, out batted and have taken 1-0 lead. The first test match saw the Sri Lankans bundled out for 201 with wreck in chief Junaid Khan and then Pakistan scoring 383, then came the turnaround with Mathews, Sliva, Prasana Jayawarnde smashed the Pakistan and gave them a target of 302. The match was drawn.
In the second match at the Dubai International Stadium the pitch which favored pace bowling the Sri Lankans blew away the Pakistans batting for 165. The Sri Lankans then took control taking a lead of 223. The main scorers were Jayawarnde scoring a century with a fractured hand,Sliva scoring 95. The second innings performance was much better with Misbah scoring 97, Sarfraz scoring 74 and gave the Sri Lankans to chase a modest 137 which they chased with ease losing 1 wicket. The main reason has been the ability of Sri Lankans to play the threat of pakistan major spinner Saeed Ajmal and the lack of assistance from the pitches.
The top order partnerships has been the main difference. The 3rd test match which is to be played at Sharjah will be an interesting battle. The main problem of the Pakistans is that the injury of Bilawal bhatti.In the 2nd test match Khurram Manzoor played well in the first innings but Mohmmad Hafeez,Shezad has not performed according to expectations . They can include Azhar Ali and Shan Masood who made his debut against the South Africans.
For the Sri Lankans it will happy camp that there are no problems in the team but they may include spinner.The batting looked settled and if they can get a good start the Pakistan team would be in trouble. Pakistan team would be a worried team that the pitches did not have any help for the spinners.
As a fan of cricket i would love to see sporting pitches in UAE so that there is enough fight between bat and ball. The Pakistan team batting has been pathetic especially top order and the tail which has not contributed enough in the series. Despite that the Sri Lankans have clearly made smarter tactics,shown confidence in the youngsters and giving them a long go.
