Ranji Trophy: Semi finals preview
In one of the most prestigious domestic tournament in India the four semi finalist of this year Ranji trophy has been decided as Punjab will take on Karnatka in Mohali while Bengal takes on Maharastra in the other semi finals at the Holkar Stadium at Indore. These four teams have performed well too reach to this stage. Maharastra has been the surprise package this season by topping group C and also defeating the 40 times winners Mumbai.Karnatka has been on a roll winning 6 games on a trot because combination of good batting and bowling.
Punjab season has been a good one as they finished second in the group stage and also they defeated underdogs Jammu and Kashmir.Bengal form looks also great as they finished 3rd in the group stage and also defeated Railways in quarter finals.
The first semi final will be an interesting one as Maharastra looks favorites to win because of batting depth they posses. The top order comprises of Rohit Motwani, HarshadKhadiwale,and solid middle order which comprises the run machine KD jadhav, Ankit Bawne and the bowling looks potent with Shrikhant Munde, AnupamSancklhea, Samid Fallah but Bengal needs not be counted as their main weapon are theirpace bowlers which comprises of Ashok Dinda, Shib ShankarPaul, Sourav Sarkar and batting department will depend heavliy on Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Wriddhman Saha. The pitch will be an sporting one as their will swing on the offer and later help the batsman.
The Second Semi final will be cracker of contest as Punjab and Karnatka have some quality players which can change the course of the match. The batting of Karnataka looks good with Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey, KL Rahul,Karun Nair, CM Gautuam but punjab bowling looks very good with the likes Sandeep Sharma, VRV Singh, Manpreet Gony, Siddarth kaul but bowling of Karnatka looks very good with Vinay Kumar, Abhimyunu Mithun, HS Sharath, but they will miss the services of Stuart Binny.
All in all it should be wonderful contest in the two semi finals and I hope that the teams play to their best of the ability. The pitch at Mohali will a testing one as there will swing, bounce and pace which will assist the pacers.
