A credible performance by Indian shuttlers at Asian Badmination Championship

Since Saina Nehwal was training for the Uber Cup , the Indian teen sensation PV Sindhu, the pair of Jwala Gutta and Ponappa, Guru Sai dutta all played really well in the recently concluded Asian badminton championship played in Gimechon, Korea. It was nice experience for these players as it would a good preparation for the Indian players as they would play the best in the world in New Delhi in Thomas Cup and Uber Cup respectively.

PV Sindhu won the first match against a player which she never defeated ie Erioke Hirose and was confident with storke play which is great sign for Indian badminton. In the quarter finals she defeated Thaliand Busan in thrilling three setter. In the semi finals she took the first game against the Chinese Wang Shixian and was leading 20-18 in the second but she frittered away points and after that it was all Chinese player from that point. It was a case of tension i case but she gave a tough fight to top seed in rankings but with exposure the Indian badminton stars can give challenge to the best in the world.

Jwala Gutta and Ponnapa played very well till the quarter finals but in the semi finals the Indian duo was not up to the mark and lost the match in straight sets. I think the likes of K shrikahant, Guru Sai dutta, Sourabh Varma, P Kashyap and many of young Indian players have shown signs that they can give tough fight and beat them on any day. The main thing is that they have work on the fitness and mental issues.
