A good performances by the Indian contiegent at the CWG 2014

The Indian contingent has done the country proud by winning 15 golds, 30 silvers and 19 bronze. A total of 215 athletes in the CWG 2014 held in Glasgow. The Indian performed well in shooting,wrestling, boxing as they were expected but nobody thought they would do well in sports like Judo, Weightlifting, Squash, Badmination and Athletics.

The best part of was that India won medals in discuss throw by Vikas Gowda in men, Seema Punia in the discuss for women, Arpinder Singh in men's triple jump and Dipia karmakar winning bronze in gymnastic which is great boost for the Indians ahead of the Asian games to held in September and on the disappointing side Krishna Poonia was not in his elements as she finished fifth in the finals.

In Squash the doubles pair of Dipika Pallikal and Joshna Chinappa won an historic gold medal as it was their first medal in the sports. This medal will ignite some zeal and hope that they win medals in the future. In the mixed doubles Indian pairs reached quarter finals which is credible feat.

In wrestling the Indian team won 13 out of 15 medals in the competition.  As expected Sushil Kumar, Yogehswar Dutt, Amit Yadav and in women's Vignesha and Babita won gold medals. The other Indian wrestler brought laurels by winning silver and bronze in their respective weight categories.This shows that Indian wrestling is on the upswing.

Shooting also provided good medals for the country. In the men's Abihnav Bindra, Jitu Rai, did the country proud and also others shooters did a good job by winning silver and bronze. The women team had 2 gold medals in the form of Aproova Chandelia and Rani Sahonbat. Many young Indian female shooter participated and won laurels for the country.

In Badminton, both men and women team missed on a bronze. In the singles P kashyap won the gold medal, Sindhu winning a bronze, Guru Sai Dutt winning a silver and the doubles pair of Gutta and Ponappa settled for a silver after squandering a five set point lead.

In Boxing four of Indian boxers including Vijender, Sarita Devi, Mandeep Jhangra and Devndaro won silver medals and Pinki won bronze.

The Indian hockey team did good by winning the silver medal after losing to Australia 4-0 in the final. In doubles of men's table tennis the Indian team settled for silver.

Overall it was good performances by the Indian athletes and with more effort they can do well in the coming Asian games
