India trash England in 2nd ODI
India won the 2nd match of the series by 133 runs on the D/L method.After the first ODI was abandoned at Bristol, today's match at Cardiff started on time. The pitch was grassy and England won the toss and opted to bowl. The Indian innings began in shaky manner losing 2 wickets for 19, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli went in same over. After that the partnership of Rahane and Rohit steadied the partnership looking good before Rahane was stumped by Tredwell and soon after Rohit got out to a lose shot leaving India at 132 for 4. Then came the batting of Raina and Dhoni who steadied the partnership at the start but then Raina played some wonderful strokes to put the England bowlers under tremendous pressure. It was a great innings by Raina and Dhoni which gave the momentum to India and at the end India scored a massive 304-7 in 50 overs.
England innings target was revised because of rain. England began off to positive note getting 56 and then came wickets which reduced the chances of England winning the match. The hosts lost 2 wickets at the score of 56 and then the home team lost regular wickets. Jadjea was the pick of the bowlers picking 4 wickets, Ashwin 2, Shami 2,Kumar 1 and Raina 1 which derailed the chase. They were bowled for 161 in 38.1. It was much needed a victory the Indian team and hoping for similar performances from the team in coming matches.
Raina and Dhoni made light work of England bowling which lost the plot and were bowling very wide. They were trashed and put to sword. Raina was named the man of match for his 100. This win will make the Indian team more confident.
The bowlers performed well bowling right line and lengths not allowing them score. The spinners put a brake on scoring and never allowed the England batsman to score freely.
Indian team will look for more performances like this. Lets hope that India can produce this performance in coming matches.
